Lakeview Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located between Forest Lake and North Arm Bay, on Lake Minnetonka in Orono, Minnesota.
Lakeview Golf Course first opened as a 9 hole public golf course in 1956. Nine additional holes were added in 1961. Lakeview Golf Course was designed and built by Russell Wenkstern.
Located just off the shores of beautiful Lake Minnetonka, Lakeview Golf Course is 18 holes of rolling hills in a calm, quiet atmosphere. Take aim at their strategically placed par 3's, make a run at birdie on one of the par 4's, or unload your driver on one of the long par 5's. Lakeview Golf Course was specifically designed without sand traps or excessive water hazards to make playing golf fun. From league players to novices, Lakeview is an enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. This semi-hilly course has a lake and two ponds coming into play on five holes. The large greens are slightly sloped. The wind comes into play in the afternoon, making proper club selection difficult.
Lakeview plays to a par 70 and measures 5,500 yards.
Lakeview has its roots in Tonka Toys, whose former CEO, Russ Wenkstern, purchased the land in the 1950s and developed it as a golf course.
Lakeview Golf Course was closed in November 2013 after being sold to Source Land Capital who plan to build high-end homes on the property.
Source Land Capital also bought (and closed) the nine-hole Red Oak Golf Course, down the road from Lakeview in Minnetrista, Minnesota.
